I'ved got a 850 litre tank with a sump that holds about 80-100litres probable.

I have 2 802 powerheads which do 1500lph max and i'm not sure if this is enough?

it works out that the water gets turned over about 3.5 times an hour.

should i try and improve on this figure and what should I aim for?

depending on tanks, you want a flow that will allow from 3 to 5 times your tank capacity.

In planted tanks, you should go for 3 times and non-planted tanks 5 times the flow
I forgot why this is though :dunno:

Also, certain fish will require slow waterflow and other fish which are messy will force you to turn it up full speed B)

Ah ha so I am in the limits.

I['m guessing it's because plants will "consume" waste matter a bit and most plants can't survive in a strong current.

I'm going to have messy fish but whilst there only small i'm thinking 3.5 will do fine. I'll upgrade in the future though...

cheers
