We have nine Neon Tetras in our 50l tank and every now and then a couple of them look like their having trouble staying under the water!!!

They have to swim almost vertically down and if they stop swimming they start floating to the top!!

We've tested the water and everything's OK. One's doing it as I speak!!! :(

If anyone could give me an idea as to what is wrong with them it would be very much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

It could be swim bladder problems, bloat, or constipation. What are you feeding them? What size tank? How long have you had them? How long have they been doing this? Sorry for all the questions, but with more information it'll be easier to figure out what may have caused this.

My smallest Neon tetra did this yesterday for an hour or 2 after eating far too much, seems fine today.

Although the group has split up somewhat :S

I bought 6 about 6 months ago and then a few of them died so I bought some more about 2 months ago. They were in a 70l tank but then we had baby guppies so we had to get another tank and they're now in the new tank (50l) with the guppies. They have been doing it on and off for a couple of weeks. And I'm feeding them flake food.

Thanks for your help!! :)
