So here's Rye flaring. I'm still worried about his tail a little since it looks tattered and I'm getting mixed messages as to what black edges means. But eitherway, here he is.

And this is the tail

The black edges COULD just be his natural coloring, but they do look a little tattered. If it isn't coloring, it should go away eventually. I get the impression you've been treating him for finrot? Because that's likely what it is if it's not just his natural coloring.

He's a beautiful boy. Does he ever puff out his gills, too, into a full flare?

Thanks :)
I treated him with Bettafix but that really didn't do anything. I've been changing the water more often. I did buy him like that but the edges look more tattered than before.
He does puff out his gills on the right side of the tank all the time. I think he sees his reflection on those sides. He's being really bad lately though. I have no idea what wrong with him. He tries to keep my hand away from the tank. Everytime I try to feed him he jumps up to bite my finger and pays no attention to his food. Eventually he does eat though. I changed his water a few days ago and added a little tunnel. So far he's not as paranoid as he was before...just aggressive

Well, you could try having the food on your finger, and feed him that way. Just let him take it right off your finger.

I do that. I put it on my finger and put my finger in the water. Lately he's been biting my finger instead of the food. I think he's just getting more aggressive. I don't think he does this to my brother. Maybe he just doesn't like me since I'm the one that does the water changes

Also, why do they open their mouths under water...he seems to open his mouth really wide when he's flaring or trying to get at something.

To bite, I suspect, when he's flaring. Though they do yawn from time to time.

I don't think they blame us for water changes. Mine never seem to. My Plakat Killian bites me all the time, but that's just when he misses his food or I don't have food on my fingers.

He looks just like my Sori does, except, healthier. I wonder if maybe these little guys are a little more prone to fin rot? It seems like some are prone to it, while others aren't.

My Sori seems to quite enjoy slighty salty water, and his finnage seems to heal or maintain a little better, that way. I've yet to try black water or indian almond leaf, but i do hear that it works well for such cases.

Yea, I had to order that off the net since no store seemed to carry it. -_- Shipping and handling threw it up to 11 dollars  It's ok though...as long as he's happy.

cant help you on the back edges but he looks beautiful
Thank you.
I'm guessing it can just be his color...or he's stressed. Which if he is then I'm sure the blackwater will help that.

he looks very nice love the shade of clue in his tail, i think he doesnt mean to bite you it doesnt fetch blood or any thing so i cannot see the problem with it i like it when my discus and other fish bite me it tickles
