It's a hot topic currently, just in reference to a lot of people posting and or viewing it.

Yes, it's a hot topic; that means there have been a lot of posts in the thread within a short time. It was introduced with the recent upgrade.

A few posts in a short time doesn't count and neither does a lot of posts spread over months.
