Reason I ask was that I had a three flame tetra's ( the ones that survived the angel fish mascara) anyhow...they were big. two of them ( I think over eating, because their bellies were huge) and they kind of burst? All I know is that when I came home they were half eaten ( from the angles) and floating at the top of the aquarium.

Do flame tetra's have a tendency to over eat or something? I have two black neons in the tank but they don't over eat...I've had those guys for almost 8 months now.

They have a stout body shape and so they do appear to be fatter than other types of tetra. This can also be observed in Ember tetra as well. I will say though that the Flame tetra are quite assertive and are usually the first ones at the top when it's feeding time. Is there a chance that you may have all females? They will be much rounder than the males but are still very bright in colour. I think when you saw them dead, it may have appeared that they "burst" but that is not likely to have happened, rather, they just became snacks for the angels.

That is highly likely...I feel sorry for them...next time I won't be getting those. :S my bad choice in what to put into the tank. I should have taken pictures....it was abnormally larger then what they were before. it look almost like it was pregnant or something. I'm not sure if that would be the correct term but...

It could have been full with eggs, I have a couple of females right now and they are very fat!

Are you sure you're not dealing with some kind of parasite?
