Fixing Hydor External Heater?

Hi, have changed my filter, but the hosing is way larger diameter, is it possible to buy separate connections for the hydor external heaters, or anyone know a makeshift way of fitting it. Or will the fact the heater has smaller diameter, mean it just wont work anyway?
