Fixing A Crack In Tank..

I bought a second hand 4ft tank tonight.

got it home and as we were getting it out of the car, it hit the tow bar

can it be fixed? was thinking about replacement glass cut to size and being sealed into place on the inside?

I have included some pics so you can see the crack.

hopefully it can be salvaged

The only way that I would repair a crack that big would be with a new piece of glass to replace the broken piece. A simple crack that does not affect structural strength can be repaired with a glass overlay as you suggest, but that one has actually weakened the structure of the tank. Anything less than a piece of glass as thick as the original will fail fairly quickly. If you are going full thickness and size, the easiest method by far is a simple replacement.
