Sorry, another newbie question...
We have an Aqua One Aquis 1250 and have just come across a couple of hickups setting it up.
There are 2 walking stick arms, one short, one long. The long one is really quite long and if used as an inlet is actually just about touching the gravel. If we used the long one for the outlet, there won't be any water surface agitation as it will be too low, almost half way down the tank. Also it would mean the inlet would be fairly high up and not picking the stuff up from the bottom?
So which is the best option, any ideas? Or is it ok for it to be right by the gravel?

Hi joeybear :)

You don't seem to be getting a very fast answer in this section so I'll move your thread over to Hardware. If someone doesn't know just what kind of filter you have, I'm sure they will figure it out for you. There are some clever folks posting in there. :D

Thank you. Sorry, i'm just getting used to all these sections!
Can I also add that the filter occasionally (every few minutes) spits out a bursts of tiny bubbles, is this because it is new or have we done something wrong? :crazy:

At a guess it's because the Aquis 1250 filter can also be used on the Aqua One Regency Aquariums which are over 2' deep.
Different people have different ways of setting up the filter.

In my tall tank I have;

The long walkingstick arm as the fitler inlet, with the LONG side of the stick INSIDE the tank.
The shorter walkingstick arm as the filter outlet, with the LONG side of the stick on the OUTSIDE of the tank.

Try the pair of them different ways around, and see what works best for you. You usually get an extension piece with the filter pipes, and also some 'couplers', so you might find you could use the shortwalking stick wiht the long leg inside the tank, with an extension piece to put the filter inlet fairly deep in the tank, and then use the the long walkingstick, with the long piece outside the tank, as your outlet. (The outlet then being on the short side of the long walking stick, and hopefully then being fairly high in the water)

As for the bubbles, it could be that it's just clearing out any trapped air still, or if you haven't moved the tank around from how it was in the pictures you posted elsewhere, there is a good chance the filter inlet is sucking in the bubbles, and then they are being passed through the filter.

Thank you (again) :)
I only put the bubbles on to see what they would look like, haven't had them on since, but my other half rang the fish shop to make sure it's normal and he said it's trapped air and to tilt it up, then back down and it should all come out.
I'll get him to mess about with the pipes soon, but whilst he was on the phone to the lfs they said they can swap the walking stick for a shorter one (if they have one) or they will cut it for us, so i'm ok about that now, as I was worried we'd mess it up.

If you read this reply, can I just ask ....
Are plants ok to be by the heater and the filter tubes? I don't want them to get burnt or sucked up!
