So I have 14 gallon biocube that's been running well for three weeks (got the biocube +stand, black saddleback clown fish, live sand and two coral *mushroom and kenya tree* for $150).
I have it currently stocked with 10lbs of cured live rock with 5 burgundy hermit crabs and 3 blue legged hermit crabs, a queen conch and a few snails along with one peppermint shrimp, and the saddleback clownfish (tomorrow I am getting a 2nd saddleback fish). Live sand was taken from previous owner (although i started with a fraction of his and then i put new sand in with a live sand culture that came with the bag of sand).
I just started treating my tank for cynobacteria with a chemical (which one I'll check when i get home). I keep coming across posts that the fission skimmer (which i have in the biocube) stinks. I dislike it currently because it takes up a good amount of tank space. Should i get rid of it? I just know one of my snails likes to climb ontop of it and eat all of the stuff that grows ontop of it.
Because if its not really don't anything then i'd rather be able to fit more rock in there. and i have been good with the water changes, usually 15-20% a week since the tank is still new, so if that'll take place of the skimmer, maybe i should junk it.
But i do find that when i take the sponge out to rinse it, there is junk in it.
thoughts?
As for testing levels, everything looks good (my book as at home so if you want numbers, sorry you'll have to wait)
thanks
