Hey

well after have a few problems i decided to start all over again

im in the process of fishless cycling and just wondering how long it takes for the nitrites to appear after the ammonia has reached it peak.

i used a filter cartridge from the old seat up, lots of plants and also gravel from the old tank so there should be plenty of good bacteria

cheers

Well, I'm not sure, but I think as soon as your ammonia levels start to drop, that's when the nitrites will start to rise, because the one gets converted into another. As for how long this process takes, I can't help you there I'm afraid! :/

You've probably read the article alien anna has posted if not...then follow my sig.

It shouldn't take too long once the amonia appears then the bacteria start colonising and cultivating (different times usually) and then as you probably know the nitrites are then converted to nitrates which aren't as toxic up to around 50ppm ;)
