Hey everyone started my Fishless Cycle on April 15th @ 8:30 pm.

Actually, added ammonia night b4, but took my first water tests on date and time mentioned above!

On 17th I added some Bio Spira!

My Ammonia was @ 4.0 on the 18th!

Today (19th) just did my daily tests and to my delite, traces of nitrites and nitrates!

My nitrites are at 0.25 and my nitrates are at 5.0. Ammonia still at 4.0

I am a newbie so please any comments on these results! So I guess it just a matter of time!

Just some other info, I have tank temp at 86F.

Please let me know what you guys and gals think!

86f seems a little high to me. I try to keep mine at 80-82f tops. What kind of fish do you plan on adding? 86f sounds like discus.

Its only at 86f for the cycle, there are no fish in tank yet.

I will run tank at 78 - 79

86 sounds good for a fishless cycle... i doubt you will have nitrate yet though,,,try testing you tap water for nitrate... i bet its the same ;)

good luck

I did that when I first started, no nitrites or nitrates.
Also my first set of test for tank water had them both at zero also.

But I will test them again, to double check!

i have never used bio spira so not sure but to get nitrate this early seem very odd IMO unless its something in the bio spira,

:D :D :D :D Well from what I understand the whole point of the Bio Spira is to introduce these bacteria to the tank instantly, to give cycling a push! ;)

Looks like everything is going to work out fine  :) . I have never used bio spira (cant get it here) So i will be watching for your results. keep us informed as you go along. good luck and happy cycling ;) :p

yes i realise it is to give it a push (i'm not quite a complete moron) but i cant see any reason for for why they would be anything to get a nitrate reading.

i dont think bio spira is some miracle cycling agent and cant see why you would have nitrate (why is the end product of a cycle) in 4 days.

just be careful, thats all im saying. ;)
