I am very sure this is what my fish has and I have become "crippled" with fear!!!! Im thinking if I may have caught it, spread it to the kids...the sick fish is in a tank in the kitchen...OMG what if its airborne, I emptied some of the water from his tank down the sink the other day...Im trying to calm down....but Im scared....I dont know if I can can euthanize him...

This is a description of his symptoms

Fish Tuberculosis (Mycobacterium)
S: Fish may lose color and appetite and become hollow-bellied. Fish become lifeless and often crippled–with a bent spine. Fish develop ulcers under the skin and may rupture causing open sores and “pop-eye.â€￾
A: This disease is highly infectious and deleterious. Bacteria can remain living in the gravel to infect other fish when they are weakened. Some success has been achieved by treating infected fish with antibiotics (Oxytetracycline and Kanamycin), although often it is best to kill the fish and put it out of its misery. When removing piscine tuberculosis victims, do so with care, as this disease can be transmitted to humans.

PLEASE HELP :S :-(

Remember me from the other post? Well all the symptoms that are listed above. The thing is I had a betta die with these same symptoms about a year ago. The thing is I think the betta that got this originally got it from me doing something stupid! I got a really pretty rock from a friend and put it in with my betta, a week later he was dead with all these same symptoms. I found out that the rock had been kept in with lizards that had died, I believe that is what killed my betta a yr ago.

The thing is that the rocks I had with that betta are mixed into the rocks I now have in this current tank, but this is the first fish that has been sick with it since that betta. But the bent spine and all the other symptoms are the same...the bulging eyes, the loss of color, my old betta had been blue and turned greyish white, this white molly is see through around his head, the only difference though is that the molly still loves eating and has started moving more...but he is still looking extra slimy, and bent, and...hanging out at the bottom of his quarantine tank...

Whats your location.
Once a fish get a bent spine no cure, but if the other fish havent got bent spines they stand a chance with antibiotics.

Im in California. Do you think even though the ones that arent sick, could get sick?

And if the disease is still lurking within the tank, that they could get sick if they become weak?

If I treat the whole tank with antibiotics would it kill the bacteria within the rocks, etc?

Are the antibiotics safe for all fish types and algea eaters?

Should I try treating the fish with the bent spine? Even if his spine stays bent, I still love him and would like him to live the best life he could.

Hmmm so what do you think?

Sad to say you will never get the fish with the bent spine well.
Yes most antibiotic do wipe the bacteria colony out and with fish tb it want's wiping out, do you have another tank you could kick start the tank again with mature filter sponges.

Its up to you but if you want to save the fish you do need an antibiotic.
Could always get some bio spira in.
