Hi all,
A couple of months ago I moved a half dozen guppies into a 18x10x10 inch tank to reduce the crowding in my main tank somewhat. I also decided to move my cherry shrimp into the small tank, as I'd had a few adult shrimps (and untold numbers of babies) nobbled by the glowlight tetras in my main tank. The guppies don't seem to bother the shrimp at all, although I'm sure they probably eat a few babies here and there, the breeding is going pretty well.
Anyway, I've been given a 24x12x12 inch tank and was thinking of upsizing - with the idea that I might be able to find some fish who don't eat shrimp. I've read that ottos are alright with shrimp and someone in another topic (which I didn't want to hijack!) suggested a bristlenose pleco. I know there are some lovely BNs at the LFS at the moment. I guess this isn't the right place to ask if the BN & Ottos would get on alright, but are there any other recommendations for fish that won't tend to go for the baby shrimp? Tricky, I know - if they'll eat brine shrimp they'd happily eat cherries too right?
There must be some options here, I'd love to have some variety in the tank. Otherwise perhaps I should just look into getting another electric socket fitted in the spare room and have both tanks running, with just the little one for cherries!
Thanks for any advice you can offer - I hope there are some suitable fishy tankmates for my lovely little cherries!
