as you know I was supposed to get my Juwel 180 today (Tuesday) however for various reasons I won't be getting it until Friday now :/ .

however, gives me the chance to ask a question that's just popped into my head. years ago I suffered from mild asthma, was only for a few years (roughly from age 20 to 25) and haven't had it since (now in early 30's!)

I'll be having my tank in the bedroom, is there any reason for me to be concerned that all that water in my room could possibly trigger my asthma again? I'm thinking about things like humidity / slight dampness in the air caused by the constant presence of all that water.

or am I worrying about nothing?

I can't see it being a problem, but maybe just check it out with your doctor if you are worried.

My niece has horrible asthma, she also has 4 tanks full of fish. She does fine around the fish, it's her goats that bother her. :-(

If you are worried about the damp you can buy a thing called a condensation tray/sheet which is basically a plastic tray that you put on top of the tank under the lid and it traps the evaporating water, thus making the room the tank is in less damp and they only cost about £2

I have asthma myself & so far have never had any problems from the tanks in our house. I spent several hours last week cleaning & re-aquascaping my sons tank, yesterday I did the same to mine, in fact I spent at least an hour rinsing some new gravel (cant believe the dust that came out).

My 10 year old son who suffers from asthma has a tank in his bedroom and he's absolutely fine :)

thanks for putting my mind at rest, as my asthma was mild and the fact that I haven't really had it for a few years now, I'll no doubt be fine ... just thought I should ask!

My girlfriend has asthma and says that our tank has never given her problems. Her dad always had them as she grew up too (which caused me to ask her how she then knew that they didn't give a problem! but we won't go there).
