Fish Tank

[Get Fish or Die Tryin]

My Tank water keeps decreasing every month. Have checked around the tank for cracks or leaks but nothing there.

What else could it be???

Advice greatly appreciated.

Dont think so. Heater not that high and alot of water is lost each month.

You'll be surprised just how much does evaporate.

Its right. Remember Temperature is an average reading. While the water may be 80 degrees, some of it is actually alot higher and other alot lower. You do realize it snows during the winter? The temps are below freezing and still the water has to get to the sky to snow again.

Humidity also plays a part. When it's dry heat more water is lost to evaporation. In the summer I lose about 2 gallons a week to evaporation sometimes more depending on how hot it is.

How do you know it is decreasing monthly if you are doing water changes on a regular basis? Any tank that is running with a store bought cover and doesn't have any water changes for a month will have significant water loss from evaporation.
