Hey everyone,

Soon I am to be buying a house and after living in a flat for the last year I've decided to get a fish tank.

Depending on the space I was wondering if the floor could take the weight. People have asked this question before but when you are buying a house the last thing you need is the floor to go through.

I've not decided on the tank but it will be betweek 180l and 220. 1kg per 1l of water. 180kg the about 30kg of gravel etc. Total weight 210 without stand and tank. Its over 33 stone.

I have noticed that in pet shops they do not mention anything about weight.

Has anyone had problems with fish tank weight?

Thanks in advance,

Lee

It all depend on what sort of floor your putting it on, if its the ground floor and concrete then it will be no problem, if its upstairs or on wooden joist floor you have to have a think about it (span the beams the right way and again no problem) where do you plan on putting it?

well i used to have a 8ftx2ftx2ft fish tank wich i couldent bring with me when i split with my ex, i built my own base to put it on ,i bolted the frame into the wall which took nearly all the weight

I'm not sure what the floor is like.

i don't want to have to get the floor done.

Hopefully it will be ok.
