Hello,
I don't know If anyone can help me but a relative of mine in her late 50's has tasked me on finding a tank, I currently have a biorb 30 with some neon tetra and guppy and a 15l (3.3 gallons) tank with a Betta inside. She really likes the 15l, it is a nexus pure 15. She also definitely wants a Betta fish and not very many neons. Has anyone got any recommendations and would the 15l be suitable for a Betta and maybe 5 neons?

I think 3.3 gallon is only the minimum for a betta, neon tetra would need a bigger tank sadly. Betta are also tricky with tank mates, sometimes it goes perfectly and sometimes it goes horrible so I would say the best would be just to keep one betta in this tank

Hi. Welcome to the forum.

15ltrs is just about big enough for the Betta, but the bigger the tank, the better.

Neons ideally need an absolute minimum of 10gal, and 6 would be a minimum.

Tankmates or not is an issue we can help you and your relative with once you have decided which tank size your gonna be going for. Whatever the tank size, I wouldn't recommend combining a betta with tetras personally. First things first is speak to your relative and decide which size tank, from there we can help you more. Bigger is better but not always possible so let's just figure out what we're gonna be working with first..

She quite likes the nexus pure 15l and said she definitely wants a tropical tank. So the tank size will either be 15l or 18l

I agree absolutely. That is a very small space, and one male Betta is it for fish. None of the commonly seen fish like tetras can be housed in a tank this small.
