Hi All
26.gif

I have looked into what types of fish i would like to keep in my tank and i've come up with this list. Do you think i have the types of fish and the ammounts of fish right for the tank??

I have a 126ltr 27.5gal tank not cycled but has been running for about 5 days.
The fish
Neon Tetra x5 bot-mid dwellers
Zebra Danios x5 top-mid dwellers
Harlequin Rasboras x5 top-mid dwellers
Oto cats x4 bot-mid dwellers

I may swap the Rasboras for Silver tipped Tetras.
I'm not sure on what order to add these into the tank prob start with the Danios but after that i'm lost

Let me know what you think on this set up.
Ps My water has gone cloudy (white) think it is a bacteria bloom how long will this last will a 20% water change get rid of it and when can i add my first fish????

Your stocking scheme should work fine. I love schooling fish tanks. So active.

It's up to you, but I'd personally go with 2 of the 3 schools and get more of those two. 5 rasboras schooling is a nice sight, but 8+ rasboras schooling is simply amazing. Neons don't really school that much. :dunno:

6 zebras danio
9 harlequin rasbora
4 otos

Danios are fine to cycle with. Fishless cycling is better. Regardless, the otos go in last after at least several months, as they are far and away the most sensitive species you mention.

Without an ammonia source in your tank, the white cloudiness isn't likely to be a bacterial bloom. What are your water parameters?

Also neon tetra's need a mature tank of six months, you might want to change your mind to cardinals as neon tetra's are prone to NTD, which happened to me and I had to sterilise the tank, throw all the sponges away and start again.

Hi
Thanks guys
My water perameters as tested yesterday are
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0.8
Nitrate = 110
I did add some nutrafin cycle and a few flakes of fish food on monday also the water was dosed with aqua plus when i filled it up on sunday.

Yes might not go for the neons might have more of the others or sliver tipped tetras instead.

What do you know of these moss balls are they a good thing for tanks?

Cheers

Actualy the 'bacteria blooms' often talked about are NOT the beneficial nitrifying bacteria as these grow much too slowly to cause a 'bloom'. What you are seeing is various other micro-organisms (including many bacteria) that are thriving in your water. They should not usualy affect your fish's health and will hopefuly clear once your tank is cycled. You can add your fish as soon as the nitrite levels are at 0 and then do a large partial water change to get rid of most of the nitrates before adding the first few fish.
