Hi All !

I have a Mollie who seems to be on her nose spinning in circles at the bottom of my tank. This has gone on for about 12 hours now. :-(

I moved her to a fairly good size breeding trap within the tank (took at all the inside plastic pieces). She seems very realived to be out of the big tank as she is not getting thrown around as much.

All other fish and fry are doing well.

This started about 2-3 hours after I fed her freeze dried blood worms for the first time.

I read somewhere that freeze dried food can bloat them up and cause swimbladder?? Is this true??

I fed her some peas last night which she seemed to LOVE

She seems better today. She's only spinning a little bit....if at all

Right now she is still in the breeding trap and sitting near the surface. She still looks kinda wobbly, but NOTHING like last night.

Is there anything else I can do for her? If it is swimbladder, how long does it take to go away?

Also I have noticed that she has not pooped in about 24 hours. Is there anything you can do to help fish constipation? I would have thought the peas would have helped...

Thanks everyone!!

Heather

Hi Heather, I think the peas were a great idea, I'll be intrested to see what others will say about what to do next. Best of luck.

If she is constipated then you could use daphnia as a laxative. (sp?) I use daphnia as a food for my fish every couple of days. On the back of the can, it says it's a laxative. you could use that. HTH!!! :D

Hi

Did you defrost the bloodworm before putting into tank I have heard when it is just added as a cube unfrozen it can cause internal blockages. Have never experienced this myself just something I picked up somewhere :dunno:

HTH

green foods are excellent for constipation, and i think they might even be good for the swim bladder. If you dare to deal with a mega-evasive plant, you could get duckweed. Many omnivorous fish absolutely love to eat this stuff. Goldfish devour it, and my swords ate every bit that tagged along with a plant i bought. I hear that it will always turn an upside down goldfish (swim bladder problem) right side up again.

Hi Guys !

Thanks for the suggestions...I've tried everything and she still just hoovers at the top of the tank. If she tries to swim she just starts spinning around uncontrollably....I just don't know what else to do.

Also, I STILLLL have not seen her have a poop in over a week!!

I've added salt, fed her peas and still no luck....

Is there anything else I can do? Everyone else in the tank is fine.

She is still eating well, so I'd feel horrible putting her down...

Poor Thing....it's been over a week now! :-( :-(

Thanks Everyone!
