Can anyone tell me where I can find info on what fish are available at different times of the year. For example, I just called one of my lfs and asked if they had any sparkling gouramis. He said, "not right now, but sparkling gourami season is just starting."

Thank you. :)

Haha, never heard of that. All fish are alive all seasons long obviously. They probably just mean when they are done with breeding or something when they are most plentiful.

I am not quite sure, but go to like a Barnes and Nobles or any good book store and they will have books about that. I know this because i was looking one day and saw a chapter in a couple about that although i never bought it.

When your LFS says about seasons they are reffering to the collecting period that fish are caught in, in many habitats fish can only be collected during the lowest point of the dry season as the waters are flooded and dangerous at other times of the year. This is why you often see loads of a fish you havnt seen for ages all at the same time and there is a sudden rush of questions on the same fish on here. Obviously most of the more common fish like neon tetras, tigerbarbs, bala sharks and angels etc are farm bred and are available all year round.
