Fish Sapce Required

ive read alot lately about the amount of space 1 goldfish needs but i was wondering how this came about with the size of water space 1 fish needs then 10g for every other fish. who worked out this idea and how, and said this is why its true to everyone else in order for us to believe each golfish needs 15g?

Fancies need 15g each and non-fancy need 20g each. I would say its safe to say the inch per gallon rule applies here plus some common sense. Goldfish of the non-fancy type live for 20+ years, active swimmers and grow to 12"+, fancies grow 6"+ and generally have poor mobility and delicate mutations. Account for the many millions of goldfish that have been kept and the 100+ years history of aquariums, trial and error probably created these guidelines.

It is true, first Non-fancy needs about 20-30 gallons (20 is probably more accurate, but more is better) Than the next ones need about 10-15.

Now, my situation is bad, because I have 3 in just 15 gallons.
Can't take them back, because they won't. So I'm stuck with those buggers.
