Hello everyone,

I was looking at the post on diy rock wall backgrounds made of styrofoam and cement. I've searched the net for information on this, and found out all I need to know about what brand of concrete/cement to use, and to let it leech for around 6 weeks before putting in the tank. The problem here is, everyone says to paint it with 2 part epoxy, but I'm having a hard time finding a name brand that is fish safe. There is a site, that sells a fish safe two part epoxy (their own brand I guess) but they want $46 USD for one gallon of one colour. I'd like to make the rocks a greyish brown colour, and that would require me to buy a whole whack of colours to achieve the look I want, since they only sell white, black, grey, blue, red, green and yellow. Other places say that most two part epoxy's are completely safe as long as you let them cure for twice the time recommended.

Was wondering if anyone has some information on this, as it would be greatly appreciated, I would love to do this for my Malawi tank. Thanks! :)

That I have heard 2-components lacquer are too toxic for fishes. Somekind of rosins are better.

Try to find "earth-colours" and mix them gently with cement.

Well, I don't believe that let them dry twice the time makes them any safer B)
