fish randomly died!

hi. i just got a few new female platies 1 week ago. they've been acting fine in my tank, nothing unusual... i came home from school a few minutes ago and sat down to watch my fish and didn't see one of the new platy's... i searched around and it was lying upsidedown on the bottom of the tank :[

she was healthy and fine earlier... i fed them at around 3pm when i got home from work... so it's been like 5 hours since i saw her last. and she was totally fine! the other fish are acting the same as always, no unusual or sickly activity.

is there any explanation for her death? should i be worried about my other fish?

how long has the tank been up? Can you test your water parameters?

If the tank has been up for a while, you could have something like "old-tank" syndrome at work here, but its hard to know without more info.

I have had fish die on me for no apparent reason....For now I would make sure your water parameters are OK (ammo, nitrite and nitrate) and keep an eye on the other fish just in case.
