I have set up a Hexagonal Fish R Fun 26 Litre tank with a few plants, fermenting CO2, sand and a few pebbles. The livestock is a follows, 3 Threadfin Rainbows and 3 Sparkling gourami.

My question is, can I get a timer for the lights. At the moment the whole tank is powered from a D.C transformer which plugs into the hood. Then on the back of the hood are two dc plug jacks. One has the power head for the trickle filter plugged into it and the othe is a spare. The light which in integral to the hood and hard wired in, has a switch on top of the hood.

Any help would be greatly appreciated even if I have to make a circuit because I have access to the equipment needed. It would be nice if there was a simple solution though.

Thanks for any help.

the only way it can be done is by purchasing another transformer
and plugging the filter into that. thus you can then have the light(hood unit) on a timer socket.

if your lfs sells fish r fun tanks they should have a few spare transformers lying around
that they could sell to you (don't pay more than a fiver)
if they don't/won't let me know and I'll get you one but you'll have to pay extra for
postage.

Thats great,,,thanks for your help. I will ask at the place I got the tank and let you know what happens.

All the best
