So I have kind of a weird question. I planning to move to a different country and would like to continue the aquarium hobby. I will leave my current tanks and fish at home and am wondering about the prices so I can start thinking about a budget for a new tank/s (I have no idea on which fish I want to keep, but anything that can live comfortably in a 10-80l tank). So if anyone has any idea about how to find any information about the prices that would be very helpful.

I know it's an unusual question, so no pressure,
Thanks

@DoubleDutch , @emeraldking ?
Re tank choices so you can budget, you will be able to do a lot more with 80 litres, 10 litres is not suitable for fish keeping, IMO 40 litres is minimum and even that would have strictly limited stocking options.

Yea I would prefer a bigger tank, but I still don't know how big of a tank I can keep or which fish I want to keep in the tank at all. As of right now, it could be a shrimp colony or a bigger school of tetras

Sounds good! Yep, was hoping to be able to tag some members from the country you're headed to so they could give you info about the hobby costs there. @Naughts has you covered there. :)

It all depends on the fish. I think most fish are pretty cheap. I buy mine mainly from other hobbyists by Marktplaats (Gumtree like)

For cheap tanks some DIY stores are pretty cheap (Hornbach : wouldn't buy fish there).
We bought a 1 meter Trofis tank at Zoo&zo in Ede. I think itnis a great tank.

Where exactly are you going to live ?

You know The Netherlands doesn't have mountains don't you?

Well, prices do differ. Wether we mean fish or hardware. And it's also a matter of where you'll live in Holland. In the western part of the country, prices are higher than in the eastern part of the country. But that goes for most things.
Like DoubleDutch has already stated, we do have an online platform called "Marktplaats" that a lot of people use to get their fish and stuff purchased. For that could lower the price even more. And it's a way to get in touch with other private breeders.
Discounters are good to buy your tanks and supplies in comparison to specialized stores when it comes to prices. But when it comes to fish, I'd recommend to go to those specialized stores and not to most of the discounters. But that's got to do with the quality of those fish. I've mentioned deliberately "most" for there are certain discounters that do order at the same wholesaler.

If you'd like to control the costs involved to set up tanks, you should be creative...

Not sure how much these help.
I know Verduijn Cichlids. I went there once but I always meet up with them every annual edition of the Vivarium. They're just like me one of the steady exhibitors overthere.
Also Strijker Aquarium is a known store. But we also have other good specialized stores in Holland. But again, it would be interesting where you'll live in Holland. So maybe, we can point you to a closer store or even breeders in that area.
