Hi Guys, Chris here again.

My Friend has a 40 gal tank, with a new purchased Rope Fish, and Peacock eel addition.

He said he doesnt think that his Ropefish is eating, because he never sees it eat. But he bought 12 feeder fish, and put them in the tank, which has an Oscar in it. Over night 6 feeder fish disapear, but he doesnt think that the Oscar, who is 2inchs, could of possibly have eaten them all. Is it possible the ropefish ate them? if not, what should he try to feed the ropefish, the lfs told him feeder fish is what they eat.

Second, he thinks the Eel is not eating, it lays on the rocks and doesnt move. The LFS told him, tropical Fish flakes for the peacock, but he feeds, and the other fish eat, but the eel doesnt eat, nor move. any suggestions?

he said they sell something like brine shrimp? or something, hes wondering if the ropefish would eat those or not.. thought id throw the question your way, since the lfs is a broken record about the flakes and feeder fish.

thanks,

Chris

Ropefish can be quite shy- ideally they should be kept in groups, the same as the eel. The ropefish will eat chopped prawns, lancefish, mussel, squid, carnivore pellets- they're not normally fussy. The eel will probably prefer smaller foods like bloodworm- live foods are great for fussy eels as not only do they move, they live for a while before they rot.
