I got 7 new fish yesterday and added them to my 55 gallon tank. There was already 2 fish in the tank all the others had died. See post "Old tank New tank", in emergences section.Well this one fish hid out all day today and just a few minutes ago came out and started swiming upside down and all crazy. Then he started jumping out of the water and just had I guess a seizure. After that he sank to the bottom and dieded. What in the world was that about??? I had a nother one die sometime during the night. These are what the pet store call shark-rainbow fish. Okay here is what I know. The water checks out just fine. The temp is 78 degrees and the filter runs all the time. I have air stones running along the back of the tank thinking that might help with the O2 and it also looks good. To much air maybe? What am I doing wrong!! That is 21 fish to die in two weeks. The only thing I didn't change during the major tear down and cleanings was some drift wood I had for over 7 years in the tank. Other wise new gravel, filter, water of course and some plants I got off of the internet. I have treated for ich for eight days and don't know what to do. Please help. Thanks in advance. Also one of my new mollys is swimming like it is standing on its tail. Now whats next?

what do you mean when oyu say water checks out just fine? Ammo nI nA and PH please

That's ALOT of fish. That's no coincidence. There has to be something that you're doing wrong. No offence....

What are you using to treat ich? a lot of ich meds kill off sensitive fish. I lost every single neon tetra I had due to ich medication. It makes them swim like they are drunk and kills them sometimes. Sorry about your fish.

orky's right. You have to dilute meds to half strength for tetras. Maybe that's what's wrong...

Also, you could have a combo of diseases, and the ich is being taken care of, but there's something else that looks like ich maybe that's killing them...

Just waking up here and am reading the posts. I have been using quick cure. That is the name of the product on the bottle. Also my nitrAte is at or just below 40ppm. One more dead fish this morning. A small gold with black tail molley. The rest of the fish look great. Maybe just maybe its over .

Dose the chemical you used contain copper. If so ALLWAYS half the first dose then 3/4 dose then full dose. If a fish has not been exposed to copper before it can do alot of damage. i.e kill them.

Does it contain copper? Well I really don't know and it doesn't say on the label but that doesn't explain why they were dieing before I added the quick cure. Thanks for the info.

HOTDOG!!! My fish all made it through the night! Maybe just maybe the plague or whatever it was is over. Thanks for all the info guys it really helped.
