can anyone tell me if the following fish compatible together. my fiancee has been adding diffrent fish into the tank gradually over the last few weeks but there are so many diffrent ones i dont know if they can live together. in the tank at the moment we have: 6 neon tetras, 1 red tailed shark, 2 angel fish, 1 bala shark, 2 common gouramis, 1 clown loach, 2 black widows, 3 glass catfish, 2 penguin tetras, 5 black neon, 1 spotted headstander, 2 scissortail, 3 lemon tetras, 5 platys, 2 zebra danio, 1 harlequin rasbora, 1 upside down catfish, 2 pleco, 3 guppys, 1 sucking loach, 2 cardinal red, 3 dwarf gouramis, 1 schilbe catfish, 1 cory puntatus, 2 serpae tetras, 2 king blue tetras.

We need how many gallons, not its length.

Angelfish should not be kept with neons, the neons will be their snack. Bala sharks need to be in groups of 3 or more. Clown Loaches also need to be in groups of 3 or more. Zebra danios, harlequin rasboras, and upside down catfish also need to be in groups of 3 or more. Cories also need to be in groups. This also applies for all your tetras.

Glass catfish are very sensitive, and should only be put in an established tank. And what are Common Gouramis?

P.T.

woah thats alot of different kinds of fish. and like phantom thief says alot of them are schooling fish. i think your fiancee should stop adding fish and you really need to fix up your stocking arrangements

6 neons = fine
1 red tailed = :dunno:
2 angels = will get big and eat any fish that fits into its mouth
1 bala = will get too big for that tank with other fish in it
2 common gouramies = ????
1 clown loach = need to be in groups of 6 or more and will grow to big for that tank
2 black widows = :dunno:
3 glass catfish= o.k.
2 penguine fish = need to be in groups of 6 or more
5 black neon = fine
1 spotted headstander = WTF?????
2 scissor tail rasboras = need to be in groups of 6 or more
3 lemon tetras = need to be in groups of 6 or more
2 zebra danios = need to be in groups of 5 or more very fast swimmers and need lots of space also will nip fins of slower fish
1 halequine = needs to be in groups
1 upsidedown cat = may get big :dunno:
2 plecos = what type? many get huge
3 guppys = male/female or mix (breed like rabbits)
1 sucking loach = fine
2 cardinal red= What? tetras? if so need to be in groups of 6 or more
3 dwarf gouramies = :dunno:
1 schilbe catfish = :dunno: may get huge
1 cory = need two or three
2 serpae tetras = :dunno: maybe need groups
2 king blue tetras = as before

Basically you are well overstocked with too many types of fish;
please take them back and do some reasearch before getting any more. :-(

For the record, upside down catfish or synodontis contractus, grow to 4 inches only. And yes, i agree with danio2004, PLEASE DO RESEARCH ON YOUR FISH BEFORE BUYING THEM.

P.T.

Holy moses that's a ton of fish.

I can tell you right away,a clown loach can exceed 12 inches full grown easily, bala sharks get pretty dang big,if the sucking loach is what I'm thinking it is being a chinese algae eater,it will start to chase and suck on the slower bigger fish in your tank and they get big, also. 48 inches long isn't that large,if it's a tall gallon tank it still isn't going to be enough for all of that. You're ganna have to trade in some of them or get a WAY bigger tank. lol

Tell your girlfriend to save the cash for a bigger setup.

I go with P.T. on this one. Species that are naturally schooling need the security of a group to be happy.

I thought mine was well overstocked. I think you should smack him on the head.

Also they needs to be in groups of three or more.
yeah sory but man that was a lot to sort out
you are correct balas need to be in groups :D

I would get rid of the clown loach, the common gouramis (I think the commons get huge), the angels and the bala. I was under the immpression that different kinds of tetras would school together (at least that's what I read at charicin (sp) forum, you'll want to check this forum, it's at the bottom of the tropical fish section) so they might be okay, but I don't know. Go to the catfish forum and find out how what type of pleco's you have, and how big the different catfish you have will get and if they'll start to eat anyone in the tank. The other fish I don't know much about, but if you're worried about the guppies breeding, just leave the babies in the tank and they'll get eaten.
