Hi Barnsley,

Hello and welcome to the forum,

What type of cichlid do you have? Also how big is the tank and what other fish are in it?

Cichlids are generally not community fish and most are territorial and aggressive. The barb may have swim bladder problems making it swim upside down. Keep them seperate for now.

Sorry I can't be more help. Ask a mod to move this post to the emergency forum as more people will read it and you will get more answers.
