Fish in a blender?

If you are looking at this then i probably lured you in with the subject title, in which case my point that weird titles get more attention. But while you are here i am gonna ask a simple question. My Rams seemed convinced the best place to lay their eggs is on the aquarium heater...how to discourage this? Cuz it will kill the eggs no?

put mesh around it with something spacing the mess away from the heater, or use a piece of plastic with holes to surround it so fish can't get by it. 1 piece works if the heater is in the corner. Could you look at my post a few down and see if you have any advice for me? I'm in a bind! Hope that helps!

good job i was thinkin bout doing that but i didnt get to it but it worked sorry dont know bout rams either but it probly isnot a good place to put them

thats sort of odd for a ram, since they usually lay their eggs in pits dug in the gravel...try the mesh, if they dosn't work, try to put a small clay pot in the tank, for them to lay their eggs on

I think they are showing a preference for a flat smooth surface, you could put in some flat smooth stones on the substrate as any Rams I have seen breeding will clean a smooth stone rather than a plant or heater.

Maybe that's the warmest spot in the tank, what do you keep it set at? They prefer temps in the mid to upper 80's,especially during spawning. Perhaps turning it up a notch or two will discourage them AND encourage them to find another spot. Make sure you have a current next to/around the heater so the temperature evens out

Ahhhh...the ol' "bait and switch" tactic...very sneaky.....hey, whatever works(and it did!).................What about placing an airstone or bubble wand directly under the heater?

Put them in a blender... it will take away all your concerns... and increase your good meat intake.
