Hi everyone

I am thinking of starting a Fish House

I have a suitable building, but need advice on the best way to insulate and heat it.

Thanks

hey badger;
Before you think of insulating you need to figure out how many tanks you will have and what your electrical needs will be (i.e. outlets etc. ). Once the electrical work is done if you're not gonna install a sink you can start with insuating. You need to find out which R-factor your area is. ( R-factor is weather resistance). Different areas have different factors. I'm using the pink panther roll insulation (forgot it's name) since it's easier for me. I just measure cut and stick it in between the studs. I am not sure about heating since I don't know much about it yet still learning and I'm still insulating and I'm on a limited budget and learning as I go. Hope this little bit was some help .

When designing & building a fish house, or fish room, you have to pretty much reverse engineer it. You have to figure out what you expect out of the finished product. Keeping different fish requires different tanks, heat, filtration, and water conditions. Breeding setups require different configurations from fishkeeping setups. Insulation, heating, cooling, and ventilation all depend on the climate in your area, and the fish being kept.

If you post your general location, as well as what you expect out of the fish house, you are bound to get more help. A setup orientated towards keeping a vast collection of various corys has different requirements than one breeding large cichlids, such as oscars.
