Hello everyone. Have been thinking about creating a fish house for a while now but due to lack of outside space have not been able to do so. I have recently had the idea about creating a fish house in the attic. It is boarded and clean and keeps the heat very well so would save on outdoor heating. My only concern is wether oxygen levels would be adequate and would the summer heat starve this further. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

i`d also consider weight......

a square food of water weight aproximately 64 pounds (depending on temprature)

aswell as glas filters gravle, ect, it all adds up, so you want to make sure the floor can take the weight....

Fortunately the tanks will run across a supporting wall so hopefully it won't land on me while i'm sleeping!

excelent.

if your worried about lack of oxygen just make sure air can circulate.

either add a vent in the roof somewhere that will act as a chimney and pull the air from the rest of the house up into the attic, or add a window in their as they normaly come with small vents in and can be opened in times of extream heat

So you think if i put in an air vent then it should compensate for lack of oxygen. Hope so it is my only real alternative

I think you would be well advised to do a consult with an engineer. You are about to make a major change in the internal stresses in your home. You need to be D=== sure that you are not going to create a disaster.
Cheers;

Thanks for the input fortunately that is my profession so if the house does fall down on my head be it!
Is there any more opinion though as to wether the oxygen levels and heat will be safe?

heat maybe the main problem, we all know that heat rises!!
add a couple of fans to circulate the air round the attic, and like Ian suggested put in a vent.
just make sure you build the stands strong enough and very level, you don't want any unbalanced tanks bursting and soaking you!!
