hi all me again
ok i was wondering :unsure: - what would be the best ' all round ' fish food to buy
was looking at the ' new era flake ' or 'ocean nutrition pellet' and flake plus be buying frozen etc but a good back up food id call it - ok here you all shout depends on fish but surely there must be 1 that does all? ty for looking and responding
p.s want to buy in before fish not ready for fish yet lol

Tough to say. I'd start feeding the fish by buying whatever the guys at your LFS are feeding it currently, cause you know it'll eat it. Then slowly suppliment its diet with a variety of flakes/pellets/frozen. When choosing flake/pellet, make sure the first few ingredients are natural stuff like processed brine, krill, shrimp, kelp, that sort of thing. Low-quality foods will have lots of wheat, flour, etc

thanks a lot for the info , ok more research for me now all things good looking to buy my clean up crew now ty ty again for info

Hey,

I am a newbie, but I feed my clowns 'New Era' in the morning and an all round marine frozen food in the evening. They love the 'New Era', I have been told it is the best food by two lfs.

Michael

ty ty for input

All the folks in my community tank like fruits and veggies. I simply stab the food with a fork, blanch for several minutes, cool and place in tank. the whole gang is up for this treat. Loaches, live bearers, angels blue rams, corys, CAE. I feed oranges, zucchini, cucumber (remove seeds) melon, squash (other than zuc).
Cheers;

I have new era but it says its out of date ::S, but anyways yer its a good form of flake food for its.
2 weeks on forumla 1 for like boosting their immune system and general health, then the second one is for like colour and other things i think which is another 2 weeks of that then it goes onto a just all round decent marine flakes u feed for 4 weeks, then u just start the cycle again.

I think youll find we are talking marine fish here vic! :D Things like lettuce hold little nutritional value, and id think our marine fish wouldnt be so keen on fruit and veg.

A little tip I do, is I buy the smallest containers of food. That way when they run out, I can replace it with another small container of a different food. It varies their diets up a bit! :)

ty vic yup my tropicals used to love fruit and veg lol but i think now with going marine they not be as keen

good idea about the smaller tubs giving me lots to think about
i know one of the new era ones you can use all time dont have to rotate it ill keep looking and researchin then when i do get my fish lol they will like something completely different lol u watch gonna get the pickiest fish going i can feel it in my water so to speak lol
