Fish food

I read in a catfish book recently that they can eat fruit such as banana, mango, papaya etc as thats in their normal diet (not apples or acidic fruit).

I dropped in a slice of banana last night, most of the fishes loved it.

I've only tried bananas and it was a long time ago with my piranhas. When I first put it in there they just stared at it, then one of them picked it up and competition took over and the other 4 went nuts. I cut a banana in half and threw it in there and it was gone before it hit bottom. Needless to say, that was one food I didn't hand feed to my piranhas.

I never tried with cichlids tho. Just never thought of it to tell you the truth.
