Fish compatibility help !

Hi guys, so devastated but I’ve decided I have to shut 2 of my tanks down. I can’t afford to run all 3 and with the UK energy crisis, they bring me more worry than happiness. I would really, really like to keep as many fish as possible by moving them to my 200 litre (will keep this as my only tank.) I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I just wanted some other peoples input on what (if any) of these fish I can keep.

200 Litre current stocking

-2 Electric Blue Acaras
-1 Adult Angelfish
-1 Female Pearl Gourami

Other tanks content

-1 Male Betta
-1 Male & 1 Female Dwarf Gourami
-5 Cherry Barbs
-5 Cardinal tetras

…I am fairly certain you will all say no to the Cherry barbs and cardinal tetras but open to any information. Whether or not the Betta and dwarf gouramis can be added, I don’t have a clue, I really don’t want to lose any of these fish and am devastated I have to close the tanks down

Sorry to hear you're having to downsize. Do you know how hard your water is? Your water company can let you know if you don't have a test kit. That would help us help you know which fish to keep.

Hi mate, I think you misunderstood the question. I am not downsizing, I am shutting down my smaller tanks and was asking if any of the species mentioned could go into my 200 litre tank

Where is the power going, to lights for plants, or heaters?
If you insulate the base, back and sides of the tanks with 1-2 inch thick polystyrene foam, it will reduce heating costs. Just tape the foam to the outside of the tank.

Having a coverglass on top will also help reduce heat loss. Use 4, 5 or 6mm thick coverglass because it is less likely to chip and crack compared to thinner 2 or 3mm glass.

If you don't have many live plants, you could move them into one tank and have a light on that one, and leave the other tanks without lights on. The fish will be fine with normal room light.

Maybe make a large breeding net and put that in the big tank with the male Betta. You can use a plastic container and cut sections out of the sides. Then glue mosquito netting (available from shops that sell material to make clothes) over it. Glue some polystyrene foam to the top edges of the container and it can float around the big tank.

Possibly add the gouramis to the angelfish tank but monitor the pearl gourami for aggression towards the dwarf gouramis.

Keep the barbs and tetras out of the angelfish tank.

Just lights, heaters and filters across multiple tanks with maintenance on all is getting a little bit much for me. I would rather concentrate my efforts on making one big, perfectly run tank. It looks like I’m going to have to rehome them all. I don’t fancy a net in my main show tank and seems a bit of a risk to introduce the dwarf gouramis.
