i was talking to a friend and he wants to swap my 9" jag for his 7" uaru amphiacanthoides! I was just wondering would it work with vieja bifasciata 5" (for a month or two?) and if its a good deal?

deffo a good deal, however he prob wont be happy with a vieja as they are aggressive and uaru amphiacanthoides are very peaceful, these beauty's are best kept in a group aswell....do it but give him the vieja aswell.i love uaru

thanks ive been over gave him the jag and the vieja i got 2 uaru amphiacanthoides one 8" one 7" Im floating the bag as I type.

Thats a very good trade, if you ask me,
Uaru are a great fish, big, peaceful with tonnes of character, and worth a little more than the jag and vieja too IMO

the two new uaru amphiacanthoides are looking great in the tank just gave a mini feed they are all out swimming together! its quiet at the moment but watching them is great! Il try and get some pictures on but i struggle to get them on here! I got the one on yesterday by luck! Il take some and give it a try if anyone wants to see it!

Thats a blinding trade if you ask me, in my lfs when they do have them they go for 40+pounds....where same shop you pick up babie jags and vieja at 5pounds each....
There great and peaceful much more tank mate options,id reccomend looking for a few more if your tank can handle them size wize

its easy to put pics on here....do you use photobucket?
if yes when you open the pics there are four different addresse's at bottom left where it says "share this image" click the img code then right click and copy, then come on here open your thread and paste the link...sorted

Er, is your tank only 200l? If so, gorgeous as your fish are it is massively overstocked. As is your 60l, I hope you mean 200 gallons... :(

sizes are correct! the 60l has been as it is for 18 months regular waterchanges has kept it fine! 200l is over filtered fluval u4 and rena xp2 external! w/c 25% twice a week I have no problems with my parameters!

If the gibby has been in the 60l for 18 months and is still so tiny then chances are it is severely stunted. Same for the 200l. It is about more than water parameters, fish need space to swim and grow. After 18 months a gibby should be over a foot long. Over filtering allows you to push stocking a bit but not to the extent you have without some side effects to your fish.

I'm sorry if you think I'm harsh but 200l and 60l stocked with those fish is definitely not right.

actually, i read a post on this forum, i believe is correct, maybe i shouldnt even be saying this since im not 100% sure, but someone can second opinion this...

anyway, apparently plecos dont give off the hormone that causes fish to stop growing and stunt, they just keep on growing reguardless of the size of the tank and water changes. now this doesnt explain at all why the gibby would be that small, someone can maybe explain?

i agree that the tanks are overstocked though.

the gibby in the 60l is around 6 and a half inches i just haven't updated the size! The 200l the stocking has only been like that for 3-4 weeks I did have a community of 15x 4-5" jouvenile cichlids but I decided I wanted a change so I gave them away! I got the jag and veija which I traded today for the uarus They will only be living in the 200l for a month maybe 2 until I have finished my fish house! I got rid of the jag and veija as advised by nelly. I dont take offence at someone elses opinions :good:
