Well about three years ago I purchased my goldfish. At the time I knew nothing and had 8 fish living in a 10 gallon. Cruel I know, but I've eventually upgraded to a 29 gallon. Not the largest, but the biggest I can fit in my parent's house for now. The weirdest thing has happened though. 3 of my calico fantails completely lost their spots within the first year. They're now a deep orange colour with patches of white and their scales are so shiny. Now about a month ago my black moor started off with a white patch on his stomach. The patch eventually turned gold, and now my black moor is gradually turning all gold. The fish have never gotten sick and are active and healthy eaters. It's just funny how they all lost their colours. I read somewhere on the net it could be caused by foods with spirulina. Funny thing is they love to steal the algae chips from the pleco which contain spirulina. Anyone else experience this?

it could be something todo with the food

Yes that's happened to me. My black moore turned completely white (no color at all) and stayed that way for a couple months. Then he gradually started turning gold, and eventually developed tiny black spots on his back

It's nothing to worry about.
