Hi all, i'm sure i've read on here somewhere about mail order suppliers of fish ... is it actually possible to send fish safely by courier or whatever? And if it's possible, is it safe for the fish ?

And if it's safe... who does it? cos i bet it would open up a whole new world of fish we can't get hold of in our local area.
Thanks

First off you need to let us know your location so people can advise you on suppliers in your country, there would be little point in someone giving a list of mail order companies in England if you are in the US or vise versa.

Secondly yes it is possible to send/recive fish by courier, they are usually sent out on a overnight delivery and arive first thing in the morning. I have bought a few fish via mail order and have always been happy with the service and the fish i have been sent.

I've heard very good reports of www.trimar.co.uk, but never tried it myself, hopefully those who have will be able to tell you their experiences.

thanks for that waterwater i'll have a look.

I know that I looked into ordering in the States and it is quite expensive for the shipping as next day air delivery is needed. It would have been a minimum of $25 for shipping alone from the source I was looking at. I talked to my LPS and they are able to special order most anything I would want to buy with no shipping charges for me. So maybe that would be an option for you.
