I woke up to find one of my mollies has been 'bitten' in half.

Should I take it out and put it out of its misery or let it die on its own?

If no chance of survival, sounds to be the case. Then end it.
No easy way unless you have Clove oil or Some similar cocktail.
Crush or remove the head cleanly and quickly.
Sorry for your loss

For a molly to be bitten in half it sounds like there might be a stocking problem or a large "usualy" peacefull fish chancing its arm :)

:good: proper call I see a Huge stocking problem or a bit of cannibalism. but then how did we need a mercy killing??
waiting for a call back from op.
a bit of time for the loss I guess.
I gave an option to the proper end is all.:rip:

Super Glue?

Sorry I just had a Tizer moment

Yes very sad stuff. Breaks my heart having to do stuff like this. I'm actually supprised on how long it lived with half a body. I don't think any of its organs were damaged but it would have died a slow painful death eventually.

I absolutely knew the issue, and have rectified it. Got given a 'green terror' and had to temporarily put him in the same tank as my mollies :(

Moved the offender to another tank far too small - but am waiting on my new tank to finish cycling then all will be well.

:-( :-( :-(

Thanks for the posts guys

Green Terror in with Mollies, Yikes! That's like a fox in the henhouse. In the future I would avoid all fish with the names Terror, Devil, Convict, and those named after famous prizefighters. ;)

Indeed. I was at maidenhead aquatics yesterday to pick up a few cories and they had a tankful of electric blue jack dempseys.

I stared at them longingly, but I knew they would have devastated my main tank's stock.

I will have some large chiclid predator sooner or later...
