fish behaviour

i got 5 zebra danio today to cycle my tank, is there any reason why they hang around my filter and also at the top of the water as if they were feeding? or is this just normal? i have water movement in the tank, but do i turn it up cos im worried there is not enough air for them.

I know you are using them to cycle. However, you should still becareful when acclimating them to new tank.

Also, did you remember dechlorinator?

There could be ammonia in your tap. They still need you help to succeed

all danios love to swim in currents.
as canarsie11 has said you need to use dechlorinated water.

also what is the temp as this can affect the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water, higher temps = less oxygen.

yes i used a dechlorinator in the water and the temp is 25/77, i did a test on the water before i put the fish in and the readings were

PH 7.4-7.6
ammonia 0-0.25
Nitrite 0.50
Nitrate 10
