this is urgent because i need to take some snails tomorrow and fish later on
basically my question is do i have to use the fish bags or can i use a very well rinsed out container or is there something toxic in it
i was wondering because i have fry i am giving to people when they are ready and it is hard to find them my mom probably wont let me shop onnline

help

i think a zip lock would be ok, so long as it is water tight

I also use new tupperware containers to transport fish when needed. You could get a few to use exclusively for fish.

Containers for food use would be okay. I'd be wary of those "zip lock" bags - they have a habit of unzipping.

If your LFS is "local" why not ask them for some bags?

Sure, you can us containers, or zip-lock bags (yes, I have resorted to them in the past) but as the kev already suggested, just go get some fish bags from your local LFS, the always give them away if you ask. Real fish bags are better then the other ideas because they are tall and you can seal the bag with a lot of air in them. They also often have rounded corners to keep small fish from getting squashed. (If they don't then you just put bag upside down in another bag, so that the top of the bag effectively becomes the bottom)

some shops will sell fish bags by the 1000. this is what i do. you probably won't need that many but if you split the cost between a few of you it would be quite cheap and you would have pleanty of new fish bags for moving your fish or emergncys

hey Ste2k3 I like the pic on you sig. Any idea how it was taken ? or was is just really well rendered??

when you get highly rated/sponsored surfers, you always get photographers which simply swim in the surf and take close up shots for mags and adverts. I think it was taken for a surfing poster with a waterproof camera.
