Fish Avatars?

Hello guys. I was just thinking about adding fish to our avatar choices. You know the place where you chose a avatar on the fourm. I mean real fish like plecos,tetras,arowanas,etc. I think this is a great. How about you guys.

if you want a picture of a "real fish", then feel free to upload your own. there's no restriction preventing you from doing so (although the avatar will have to fall within certain size ranges)

I seem to recall, you need a post count of a certain value to be able to upload your own custom avatar. It is a long time ago, and not something that I think about often, but I'll have a look. Generally though, you are right, most people will want to upload their own.

Yeah,but I don't know how to upload pics. And plus I don't have a cam. So people that don't have a cam or don't know how to upload can just chose one from the avatar list.Alex.

If you go on google and look for avatars, clicke on one you like then save it to your pics, then go into My controls on this site, change avatar, then where it says browse, go to your stored pics and upload. dead easy, even i can do it and im rubbish. hope this helps

i was about to say that i've had my custom CD cover avatar from day one

Hi PN, the situation may have changed at some stage. When I joined, a couple of years before you, almost all of the newbies had either no avatar or a hideous big smiley in a choice of bright green, bright blue, shocking pink, or fluorescent yellow. The board software and avatar galleries have certainly been ipdated since then, and it is quite likely that the requirement was removed at that time.

Whatever, the board used to look horrible back then with those ugly great avatars. It is more refined now.

i imagine it must have looked awful but i can't help but wonder if i'd have chosen no avatar as i like to think i would, or if i'd have used one of those horrible smiley faces... i guess we aren't meant to know...

They do seem important to some. There are members that change their avatar as often as some others change their clothes. It was pretty grim though when the forum was full of these, this size.
