The fish ate the eyes off my crayfish, but the crayfish is still alive and walking about. He is in another tank right now. Is there anything I can do to better care for him and will his eyes grow back in time?

First up, Hi and welcome siggie

Not familiar with crayfish but you did right to move him, what fish was it being kept with?

As said I don't know about crayfish but I think its unlikly that eyes will grow back :( Keep an eye out (sorry about the pun) for any secondry infections.

Hopefully someone with more experience of crayfish will be along soon

:)

I don't know anything about crayfish but I would contradict WWW.

I think there is a chance that the eyes will grow back, like in a snail or a crab. Don't hold me too it is just what I think!!

Siggie, I don't think he will grow eyes back, but nature intended crayfish to be in a murky water environment, so his antennae will be quite adept at finding food for him.

But let us know if his eyes do grow back, that would be cool...

If you were contradicting me then you would know for sure that the eyes would grow back..... :grr:

Anyway siggie check this site

crayfish

:)

I stand corrected it appears they can only regrow pincers and legs.

Sorry WWW

:( Hi siggie, welcome to the board, sorry your first post is such a bummer but your crayfish should be OK on his own, he'll still be able to feed. As GL says I also doubt his eyes will grow back. :/ Mac.

Thanks for the site WWW, I spent over an hour looking for a good crayfish site looking for an answer..

You are now resident claw man.... :D :D
