i have just set up a new tank about 4 weeks,i have 6 cherry barps 4 mollys 5 guppys and 3 clown loach
sinch the start all my fish are swimming up and down the left hand side of the tank going from the floor to the top of the tank.
where the fish do this is where my air pumb and fillter is kept,is this normal or is there to much oxagen in that part of the tank.
please help i want my tank full of fish not just the left side

Firstly HiYa and welcome focus

If the fish are constantly doing this it is often associated with stress....

Do you know about 'cycling' a tank?

Have you got any readings/tests for your water? eg ammonia, nitrite etc.?

If the tank is only 4 weeks old then it is probably still cycling - were dangerous toxins can build up in the tank and adversly affect your fish :/

:)

thanks for the reply the tank was a old tank off a mate and i kept the tank just with plants a good mounth before adding any fish when i said it was 4 weeks old i sould have said its been for weeks before the first lot of fish went in

This is a common beginner problem....

The tank will only begin to cycle ONCE the fish or ammonia (if doing fishless cycle) are added. So leaving it for a month (I'm afraid to say) did absolutely nothing for your tank, I think the problem is raised ammonia/nitrIte levels please buy some test kits to help us further but a 20% water change with dechlorinated water will give us some time... :)

Welcome to the forum, congrats on the babies - either mollies or guppies :)

:hi: to the forum and congratulations! :D Are the babies in the same tanks as all the others? I hope they don't get eaten!

Did you float the bag of fish before you pour them into the tank? It sounds like stress. My guppies acted strange like that and died. My tank was cycled but the guppies was so stressed out when I brought them home and it died the next day.

Where did you buy your fishes? I got mine at Petco and they allow me to bring the dead fishes and exchange for new one with no charge.

thanks for your help :D
fish not doing t as much to day going to do a water change see if it stops all together
had my guppys for 3 weeks all healthy and fit pleased to say.
