so my 20gal (which is home to 8 rasboras, 6 guppies and a black molly) all my fish seem to be freaking out...they are swimming all over like they are being chased...even the molly...back and forth...i lost 3 guppies in the last 24 hrs. (it could just be from where i got them....) but???? I tested the water everything is good except the pH...it is up to 7.2/7.4....(it was down to 6.2...but ive just down water changes and now it is up to those readings :S ) i thought maybe they didnt have enough O2 so i put an airstone in there and it hasnt helped...i dunno im getting really frustrated with this tank its my first and has been stable for long and now it is freaking along with its inhabitants....(also there are 2 oto's in there and they're acting funny too...any ideas....

hi Braddah,
So, you said there were no ammo or nitrite readings before the water change? Hate to ask this, but you did add a chloramine/chlorine remover, didn't ya? Any other changes to the tank? New fish, different chemicals, meds? Loud sounds could make the fish kinda skittish, but I doubt it would cause death. Anything you can think of that is different? You stated earlier that this is a completely cycled tank, right?

Have you suddenly increased the pH? Sudden changes in pH can cause fish to go into shock, which is why it's always good to do small and frequent w/c's, rather than one massive one.

There isn't much you can do now about pH shock if that's what it is, except stand-by and pray. I lost a load of fish by making the same mistake once

you know i didnt treat my water...dangit.... but im still worried about the pH (it is a completly cycled tank...but last week it droped to 6.2 and last night it was 7.2-7.4....my tap is 6.8 so it should be closer to that notover 7....i will put the conditioner in asap....

Thats the thing...I havent done anything to the Ph...its happened all by itself.... :S

Thanx for the input...BTW, there are no loud noises of fish or meds...and it cycled completly about 4 months ago...im so confused!
