is it normal for the male to get stunned and the female collects eggs? it seems like thats whats happening in my tank. the male embraces the female, then floats to the bottom of the tank. the female is either collecting the eggs or eating them, im not sure

the females normaly do help the male pick the eggs up and place them in the nest she will also eat the eggs.
im not sure what you mean about the male once they have embrassed they do stay floating or sinking for abit then the male comes around b4 the female and picks up the eggs then later the female comes round and helps.

is your male picking any eggs up?

nope, my male gets stunned or something, its in the embrace position and it sinks down slowly, the female swims and eats the eggs at the bottom of the tank

Hmm... that could be a problem. Normally both fish go into temporary paralysis after an embrace, and the male comes out of it first to collect the eggs before the female recovers and goes to eat them. Some females will help put the eggs in the nest, so I hope yours does that rather than just eating any eggs she can manage to pick up, which is what my Mini did :/

Sometimes, in the beginning, the male WILL stun himself rather than the female, but, usually, no eggs are released during that. If the entire spawn goes with the male stunning himself, and the female still releasing eggs, I don't think any will hatch, because there's obviously something wrong going on there.

In my spawns (and I've had quite a few, but I've lost count), the male does not get stunned after a correct embrace, but the female usually floats at the top, completely stunned, until the male has collected most of the eggs, if the male bothers to collect the eggs at all.

Thats what happened to me once...because the male was smaller than the female lol...maybe the female is embracing him too hard? :/

wow, only one egg is in the nest. i couldve sworn ive seen more yesterday. somebody went into the room and cleaned it, now theres only 1 egg left? what happened? are there more eggs withing the nest? im only looking from the bottom

Look at the nest from the top and see if you can see an area that's more opaque than the rest... if you can, then that might be some eggs deeper within the bubbles of the nest that you just can't see from the bottom. If you don't see anything like that, it might be best to remove the father if he's still in there. If you think you saw more eggs earlier he might be eating them :/

If it's been a day since the eggs were laid, then they're close to hatching. Betta eggs typically go fairly transparent when they're about to hatch, and are EXTREMELY hard to see.

Give it a day, and you should see plenty of little tails under that nest if they're still there.
