This is the first time I ever add any live corals to my tank. I just bought a leather coral but I need to know what I have to add to the water so that it will live. I bought Kent CB calcium buffer parts 1 and 2 and also kent marine Tech I, the iodine stuff. Is there anything else that I need to add?

The biggest thing you have to know about addiditives is that you have to make sure that you're testing for what you're actually adding. (ex, if you are adding iodine, calcium make sure that you have tested to make sure that you're not overdosing.)

Kent Tech-D is for dipping corals prior to introducing them to the display tank. The purpose of the dip is to rid the coral of any bugs or unwanted critters. If you are going to dose calcium, you need a calcium test kit. At this point in your reef's life, you do not need to be dosing anything. You do not have anything in your tank that will use up calcium fast enough to need to be dosed. Be sure to take your time and drip acclimate the new coral to your tank water. Then after you have done this for an hour or 2, give it a dip according to the directions on the tech-d bottle. Then add it to your tank and try to put it in a location that best suits that corals needs. Next take pics and put em up for us to see!!!!

what kind of lighting do you have... leather corals as far as i know should be fine w/o any added things... just change water ever 2 weeks or so... changing with a good salt should keep your trace elems. up... :D
