about a week age i noticed that one of my platy girls looked like she had had her fry but i didnt see any. i figured they were hiding in the gravel or had been eaten. they are in the community tank. but when i did my water change today i found one little guy!!!! yay!! it is about this big ____ maybe a smidge longer!

Congrats!

I was lucky enough to watch my Kribensis spawn the other day!

I know how exciting it is!

thanks aly!! i had him in a cup for the rest of my water change and didnt even think bout pics till after i had let it go back into the tank...doh. he is hiding in the rocks under my stump cave at the moment. as soon as i can get pics i will post them! hehe i sat for half an hour with my camera already trying to see if he would come out!

thanks fhm!! it was thrilled! i even called my poor hubby at work and told him...he probbly thinks in bonkers

Aww congrats on your fry :good: i'm sure it'll be fine if its still alive :)

I normally catch all the fry,but i'm trying to cut down on saving every single one (300 in fry tank at the moment  ),anyway i knew there was 2 guppy fry hanging around, now there's 4,all the same size, they must be a few weeks old now,so definately survival of the fittest :)

i dont have anywhere to put him, but the gravel in the tank is larger so he can get in there and hide. thats where he keeps dissapearing to when i try to get pics. i did manage to get one though!!

the two little black dots on his tail look like MM ears i think!

thank you everyone!! i made him a makeshift breeding trap out of a tupperware that i cut a hole in and stuffed with filter sponge to let some flow through. just to make sure he wasnt eaten!

Cute looking fry!

What are you planning on feeding him/her?

i was going to crush up flake food into a fine powder. i heard that hard boiled egg yolk would be good too, is that right?

A tiny bit of egg yolk is indeed a good food but it has a severe drawback. The egg yolk will foul your water fairly quickly and you will need to do an almost 100% change shortly after the feeding. It can work in an emergency for very small fry, much smaller than a platy fry, but should only be used to avoid having very small fry starve before you can get alternate foods.
