Hi, finally got my first dwarf puffers!!! Got 5 of them to go in my 85l planted tank! Also popped a few shrimp in to clean up some algae thats built up on the bog wood and they join a bristle nose catfish. They are the cutest and most curious fish ever!!!! Also set up a small sponge filter filtered snail tank. They are great!!!!

Enjoy, love mine :)

Keep an eye on the bristlenose, they may well end up nipping at him once they've built up some confidence. Also make sure they're all getting a decent amount to eat, I have to target feed the 2 smallest of my 6 as the others bully them off the food otherwise.

Currently we have no idea where Herman (thats right, we name our fish  ) the bristlenose has gone but we have a home for him lined up at a moments notice should anything kick off. We wouldn't have risked getting him otherwise :) I'm sure he's in a cave somewhere.... I'l get the boy to put some photo's up here ASAP. I think we've ben really lucky, so far it looks like we have 1 male and 4 females :D Hopefully that means agro will be kept to a minimum.

Good stuff. I bought mine too young to sex and ended up with 2 females and 4 males. Seems to be working out alright so far... the two females are actually far more aggressive than the males, I think because they grew much faster, and hence the males are too busy avoiding the females to show much aggression to each other. I've seen the females have a couple of proper scraps, but can't say I've seen a single serious incident with the males.

So far none of that. they all seem to be getting along very well. Although one of the females as claimed the corner of the tank cut off by the bog wood held java fern as hers. She pops out and if anyone is there they get chased out!!

just wandered in to have a look at the tank. Herman is curled up under the bog wood snacking!!!

He's still not asleep at this time of night???!!! He must be hungry

Mine go to bed early

Congrats on your new puffs btw. Have fun :)

He seem s more active at night so far...

The dwarf puffers are fantastic, so much fun to watch!!! I shall try and put pics of the tank and critters up tomorrow. Might go get a few more shrimp in the morning first though

I have been trying.....my other half is going to have a go....she is a much better photographer than me and did most of the aquascaping in the tank...they rock though, love watching them. They behave like helicopters, popping up from behind the plants and things.

She is so good with that camera....

Lies all lies. My apologies for the rubbish photo's and for the algae and fingus on the wood. It all grew whilst cycling the tank which has been heavily planted. We have decided to leave the gunk for a while so Herman the bristlenose can dine well. How on earth do you guys get your camera to focus on the tiny little guys? I was using the close up setting (looks like a little flower), tried flash on, flash off... I will get a whole tank pic when we get more batteries (and one of Herman if he decides to rejoin society).

Congrats on your DP babies :good: I love my little guys, the way they go cross eyed when hunting & how they rush out when they see you, so cute. Have fun with them.

I'm a little confused by our little ones... after all this talk of them being nippy and confrontational.... they are schooling? Not all the time but still. The tank is jam packed with hidey holes. Not that I'm complaining mind! Means I can see them better :D

Young ones often school together. Also, when being introduced into a new environment, they like sticking together for a bit until they claim their own territories :)
