I have a problem I found this morning that I have my first case if ich in 2 yrs.... I have treated the whole tank cause I have read that it lives in the gravel and that the actual parasite is microscopic did I do it wrong by not removing the fish that has it and just treating the whole tank?

No you did correctly. With ich you have to treat the whole tank.

sweet I hope that I caught it in time cause it is only one fish and I just ordered like 12 more fish for my tank

Juanveldez,

What's happening here? I was going to post just about the same thing! Ich is in my community tank that rarely gives me a problem. It's been a long time since I've had a case of ich in there and I was ever so surprised to see it. It's been months since I've added a fish to that tank except to move a couple of odd catfish from another tank.

I started treatment (medication, salt and temp increase) and took the catfish out but I'm sad to say it's hitting my platies hard. :(

Good luck. I hope your fish recover.

I wouldn't recommend putting the new fish in the tank without quarantining them first and especially if you have ich in the tank. This will keep them from getting ich also since you'll be treating the tank for about 12-14 days to get rid of it.

thats cool smb I will just swing into the lfs tommorrow to tell her to hold off for bout 3 weeks plus it wouldn't hurt to pick up some new medicne...
